BILTMORE WALK SCULPTURE

Keene Development Group has commissioned Fen to create a striking sculpture for the Biltmore Walk development in Greenville, South Carolina. This Art Deco-inspired artwork will provide the finishing touch to the luxurious townhome community when completed in 2026.

Fen: My vision depicts a bronze sculpture honoring the eternal and universal figure of the Sower – propelled by force and dynamism. A renewed embodiment for this timeless archetype.

This work creates a fresh resurgence of American Art Deco. The sculpture draws aesthetic inspiration from the forgotten genius of the American Art Deco scene Lee Lawrie. I believe sculptors must look back to move forward, as all creative work exists in dialogue with that which came before.

The Sower represents a powerful archetype spanning our entire Western canon and beyond. People do not plant seeds unless they dream of a greater tomorrow. This idea applies to both the local area of Greenville, which continues to grow from strength to strength with its inspiring developments, but also optimistic movements in broader American culture.

The figure gazes forward while casting seeds, striding with grace and confidence. My intention is to anchor this optimistic future-oriented vision in bronze, allowing it to withstand the test of time and continue to shine brightly for many decades to come.
